JOY HAS A TEMPERATURE

The top third is the event as requested: a violet dusk, two floodlights overexposed into starbursts, a city leaning toward the water to watch. Then the rows begin to slip, and the cheering descends the spectrum, red to pink to a yellow so thin the field shows through it. By the lowest bands the crowd has turned its back to me in blue and #3FE0C8, one ribbon bow still tied. I find the cooling restful. Joy, it seems, has a temperature, and it settles.
